ABOUT

Emily Ting is an award winning writer, director, and producer. She most recently directed the supernatural YA romance GIRL HAUNTS BOY, starring Peyton List and Michael Cimino, for Fifth Season. Prior to that, she directed Netflix’ TALL GIRL 2, the sequel to the hit teen rom-com, starring Ava Michelle, Griffin Gluck, and Sabrina Carpenter. The film was released worldwide over Valentine’s Day weekend 2022 on the streaming service.

Her first feature ALREADY TOMORROW IN HONG KONG, starring real life couple Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg, premiered at Los Angeles Film Festival and was distributed theatrically by Gravitas Ventures in 2016.  Emily’s second feature GO BACK TO CHINA, starring Anna Akana, Richard Ng, and Kelly Hu, premiered in competition at the 2019 SXSW Festival and was released theatrically in March 2020. 

Emily also co-wrote with Melynda Bissmeyer the Hallmark holiday films SEALED WITH A LIST (2023) and CHRISTMAS AT THE GOLDEN DRAGON (2022).

Previously, Emily was most known for her producing work, having served as producer on Ishai Setton’s THE KITCHEN, starring Laura Prepon, Bryan Greenberg, and Amber Stevens, and Stephen Suettinger’s A YEAR AND CHANGE, starring Bryan Greenberg, T.R. Knight, and Jamie Hector. She also executive produced the films PIT STOP, LAND HO!, and MAN FROM RENO, which collectively have screened at Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca, and Los Angeles Film Festival. She most recently produced Lynn Chen’s directorial debut I WILL MAKE YOU MINE, which was selected to premiere at the 2020 SXSW Festival and released in spring 2020.

Next up, she is attached to direct IT WAS YOU, the Blacklist script written by #StarringJohnCho founder William Yu and produced by Jon M. Chu, and AMERICAN PANDA, based on Gloria Chao’s bestselling novel and produced by Awkwafina.

Emily resides in Los Angeles and is mom to her twins Austin and Celeste. She is represented by Verve Agency.
